Sonicare PS-1 Sonic Toothbrush

Amazon.com Review

By combining 31,000 brush strokes per minute and gentle sonic waves, Sonicare electric toothbrushes scrub away decay-causing plaque from between teeth and along gum lines better than ordinary toothbrushes. Two full-refund guarantees are offered on this model (30-day satisfaction guarantee and 90-day improved-care guarantee), plus a 1-year warranty on the handle against defects. This Sonicare model shuts off after 2 minutes to indicate when cleaning time attains the recommended duration (the brush can be restarted), and ramps up to full speed slowly over the first 12 uses to reduce soreness for people unaccustomed to thorough cleaning (this feature can be turned off). The power handle holds a charge for about two weeks. –Fred Brack

I’ve had a Sonicare for approx. 6 months and can say that it does a great job. I feel that this toothbrush does a much better job of cleaning your teeth and gums than traditional toothbrushes.

Features: The Sonicare provides a timed, two-minute automatic shutoff. My experience: I’ve found this timer reinforces spending an adequate amount of time to get a thorough cleaning. My natural tendancy is to keep brushing until the auto-shutoff kicks off, rather than turning it off prematurely.

This toothbrush slowly builds up it’s speed during the first twelve uses, allowing the user to get comfortable with the sensation of vibration. My experience: The sensation of the toothbrush’s vibration seemed strange for the first use or two, but I quickly felt comfortable with using it.

I regularly take this toothbrush on the road, away from it’s charger for up to a week at a time, without any reduction in it’s usability or brushing speed.

The charger base is well designed, not requiring the toothbrush to make a connection which may wear over time. Simply place the brush into the base, and the battery is charged via a wireless conneciton.

One quick word of advice: If you purchase and begin using this product, you’ll need to remember not to remove it from your mouth until after it has been shutoff. Once, while rushing to get to work, I forgot to follow this simple rule and ended up with ‘brush spray’ going everywhere!

My husband and I received one for Christmas last year and we love it. The toothbrush and toothbrushes are a little pricey but if you wait and look around, usually the warehouse stores will have 2 in a package for a great price. After using, your teeth and gums feel great. Even my dental checkups came out better. I would highly reccomend.c

    Why Just 2 Minutes?
Why should I be told by a machine how long to take to brush my teeth! This is a great product in quality and performance, but for the “big brother” factor.

This is the BEST way to brush your teeth.
I have to admit to being skeptical when my new dentist recommended that I get a Sonicare. Seemed like a new way to get another $… out of me.

    Worth the Money!!
A week or so before purchasing one of these, my dentist told me that my gums were terribly inflamed and that I was at the beginning stage of gum disease.

    Gum Disease No More!
I bought my first sonicare toothbrush several years ago. My dentist recommended it since I was showing signs of gum disease.

If at first you don’t like it, ignore it THIS THING IS GREAT
This is one of those items, that make you at first think, eh I have mixed feelings. After your gums get accustomed to the massage, and the intensity of the brushing, you will know…

Gotta get used to it…and the British Study…
This takes some time to get used to, but then it’s ok.There was a major study in England recently that showed it was no more effective than manual brushing at removing plaque…

    Odd but good
Here’s what I found: it’s a strange, strange feeling in your mouth. This is not like an “electric toothbrush” that you had as a kid ;-) But it really is easy to brush…
